When not tinkling ivories for The Horrors, Tom Furse can be found at his Margate studio working on deep ambient compositions. ‘Ecstatic Meditations’ continues in the vein of his 2016 ‘Interludes’ debut, adding influences from Japanese artists Akira Ito and Yasauki Shizimu to a psychedelic mishmash of Eno, Laraaji, Iasos and Alice Coltrane. ‘Journey In Ecstasy’ is a new age sound bath swimming with aquatic field recordings, while ‘Kosmuro’ has a darker feel, like a deep space spiritual epiphany. This meditative record reaches its Zen-like zenith on the calming ‘Still Music’. This is a record that confirms Furse as a modern ambient master.
