New Age Doom ‘Himalayan Dream Techno’ (We Are Busy Bodies)

Canadian experimentalists New Age Doom have set a compelling mood on their second album, a heady mix of ambient, industrial and drone for which ‘Himalayan Dream Techno’ feels like an apt name. The clattering percussive build up of opener ‘Acoustolectric Invocation’ is a cathartic sonic exercise, before ‘Mountains Of Mist’ presents a ghostly palette of bells, chimes and analogue synthesisers and ‘Space For Ghosts’ layers feedback to spooky effect. Placid in some parts and chaotic in others, ‘Himalayan Dream Techno’ offers plenty of dark foothills to traverse.
