Frenetic machine music here from Birmingham’s Machine Boy, whose website is well worth a few moments of your time for its Knockabout Comics-indebted counterculture inkmanship. The music has a similar cartoonish headrush madness to it, as ‘HeadZ’ jitters away like the shaky lines of Keith Haring’s figures. It’s all constantly in motion, stripped down to minimalist brutality, but with moments of prettiness too, like the quirky ‘Integrate’ and the tuneful if jerky ‘Pacer’. Exhausting but likeable, or in MB’s own words, “Stoopid… but real”. MR
