Lyndon Scarfe ‘Shoreline’ (Cue Dot)

This instrumental album of textures and electronic sound is the first in a series from new label Cue Dot, intended to build into an aesthetically united whole. First up is Lyndon Scarfe, formerly of early 80s synth-heavy atmos-goths The Danse Society. Using looping feedback systems based on the ideas Eno and Fripp pursued in the 1970s, the pastoral ambient compositions like ‘Herons’ and ‘Starlings’ combine drones and slow-moving melodies. By the time the quasi-orchestral swells of ‘Imperfect’ arrive, the overall effect is almost psychedelic.
