Flock are five artists from London’s genre-pushing jazz/experimental scene, including percussionists Bex Burch and Sarathy Korwar, and in-demand synth man Danalogue, who describes their improvised recordings sessions as “murmurations”. On the energetic ‘Bold Dream’, the fulsome bass of his Roland SH-09 signals the group’s moment of flight, setting off a squawking saxophone and a heavy flourish of cymbals. When it ends, the entire band erupts into laughter, having clearly surprised themselves. ‘Flock’ is gloriously unpredictable, and you only hope there’s more of this to come. ILS
