Blissful, elegant instrumentals from a new Nottingham duo. Underpinned by cyclical electronics, Henry Scott’s crystalline guitar weaves arabesques, while seasoned bassist John Thompson adds soul and grace. ‘Sherwood Pines’ bathes us in the glow of an eternal sunset and this crepuscular magic pervades opening track ‘Tracing Paper’. But rather than dwelling in semi-darkness, Brown Fang gravitate towards the light, as on the burbling effervescence of ‘Fridgewords’ and the spacey, propulsive ‘Goodbye Donkey Jacket’. Much-needed comfort for a fucked-up world. SB
